FERPA vs Proxy

FERPA gives parents access to their student's general record by phone, and Proxy gives parents access to their student's Self-Service account.

There are 2 different forms that will need to be filled out for each permission by the student. Both forms can be found in Self-Service.

FERPA: Self-Service-->Academics-->FERPA Release Form (Records Release)

For more information on FERPA, visit https://www.navarrocollege.edu/handbook/student-records/student-records-family-rights-and-privacy-act.html

PROXY: Self-Service-->User Options-->View/Add Proxy Access

By adding proxy access for a parent, the parent will receive an email from Admissions with their own login credentials for Self-Service which will give them access to view the student's Self-Service.

Whether the parent has permission for FERPA or PROXY access, we can not give them their student's login credentials. We can only give login credentials to the student themselves.
