Canvas Errors/Login Issues

Use Colleague and/or Canvas Admin for assistance.

Invalid username or password Error:

  • Confirm they can log into their MYNC and troubleshoot them.

Access Error:

  • This error is usually given to new students only.
  • They must be enrolled in a class to access Canvas.
  • If they are enrolled, check to see which semester they are enrolled in. If it's not the next up- coming semester, it's too early to log into Canvas for those classes. They need to wait to until it is closer to the class start date.
  • If they can't access Canvas after being enrolled in a class for an up-coming semester:
    • Check when they were enrolled in Colleague under STAC.

    • Look for current courses and click on the document icon, select SACD (Student Acad Credit Detail), and click OK. Under Status/Dt/Time/Reason, it will tell you the date and time they registered.

    • If it is today's date and under 3 hours ago, they are logging in too soon. Canvas updates every 3 hours. Ask them to try again in a few hours once Canvas has a chance to update again.

Can't see their Course in Canvas:

  • Check to see if the course has been published in Canvas Admin and mask as the student.
  • Log into Canvas, click Admin and Navarro College.
  • Click People and type in student's name or NC ID number.
  • Click the mask icon on the right and Proceed.
  • Click Course and All Courses
  • Look to see if it says Yes or No under Published for the class:
    • If yes, then tell them the class will be available the day the class starts. If the class has already begun, direct them to reach out to their professor for assistance.
    • If no, then let the Dean of Online (7422) or Emmanuel Doak (7277) with IT know the class has not been published yet. Once class is published, call student back and let them know.

Can't see any content in Course:

  • They will need to reach out to their Professor or Advisor.
